Backstory

I am a self-proclaimed former acceptance addict.  As a healer and health professional, it's literally my job to help make people feel good again and I loved the attention and acceptance I gained from that.  I would love the testimonials and the gratitude shown towards me for "miracles" performed after they tried everything else.

The harder the case, the more I loved it.  And I would be myself up mercilessly on those that didn't get the results I had hoped for.

This extended to my spouse and family for the longest time.  I was only happy and "successful" when everyone was having fun and happy.  When times were stressed with crying, fighting, or being pouty and ungrateful, then I too felt like I was a dismal failure.

Then, finally it occurred to me that this was a recipe for having a pretty miserable life!  How on earth was I supposed to keep all these people happy just for me to feel happy!  It was pure lunacy!

Nuff said, listen in.

I am terrible at swimming.  It's a great workout because I spend all my energy and air trying not to drown.

What a recipe for continued failure!  (I'll come back to this in a moment)

But I am determined, that just like running long distances that I too can tackle the water.  It may never look pretty but perhaps I can practice enough to not be such a liability in the water.

To give you a background story.  I am unable to float.  I quit swimming lessons in the fifth grade because I was taking swim lessons with the kindergartners.  They could pass by floating on their backs, I would slowly sink to the bottom, with my lungs filled to the brim with air.

So now in my 30s, I'm determined to beat this.  So to the pool I go, twice a week to swim 250-300 meters each time.

And today finally I had the revelation.

  1.  I'm not going to drown.  So stop swimming to not drown.  Swim for fun.  Relax and be in the moment.
  2. I'm not going to drown. (I had to repeat this over and over in my head actually)

It worked!  I was able for the first time ever, swim without a break from one end to the other!  I didn't have to stop and catch my breath.  I didn't have to stop because I inhaled water!

By slowing down, I was able to speed up.  By realizing I wasn't going to drown, I was able to focus on the joy in the moment.

Imagine how I'm going to apply this to business?  My marriage?  My spirituality?

Back in June, I never would have imagined running 13 miles.  In fact, before this July, never in my life had I run more than a 5K (3.2 miles).  Now, it's a light run for me!   This being said.  My kids actually ran their first obstacle race this past weekend, just two weeks after I went to Seattle and finished a Spartan Beast with my good friend John.  I didn't know it then but by training and completing this race, I truly believed it has changed the trajectory for my family.

This will impact generations.  In fact, when you think about this.  The habits, traditions, and rules you have will impact your kids and then their kids directly.  You're literally writing down the legacy your leaving as we speak.  So, is this legacy being thoughtfully designed or left to fate/chance?

There is facebook perfect and then there is real life.  I've been doing my best to share the reality of our situation online because it's been showing parents that it's okay to share and talk about these frustrations.  You are not alone dear parent - we totally get the WAR you step into every single day!

My wife and I discussed a range of topics from sleepless nights, to sore boobs, to post-partum and anxiety attacks.  Dial in because this is going to get spicy!

Background

I have started (on the 15th) a 100 day challenge for myself.  It ends just before Christmas because I am working as hard as I possible can and I am going to totally veg out for the holidays.

I can tell you this.  Looking back over the past 90 days, I have done what I once thought was impossible.  I bought our dream home.  I ran over 10 miles (having never ran more than 3.2... ever ever); and I can see that the speed at which my results have come is because I finally embraced my ability to change.

The only difference between you and me is time, and not even that much time.

So, my clients are joining me on a 100 day battle.  I have taken them through a process called the GPS.  Because just like a REAL LIFE GPS (global position system) - you can set where you want to go, and if you know where you currently are... then a route can be created.

My system, the GPS, is just like that for you life.  GOALS, PURPOSE, AND SYSTEMS.  We find out where you currently are, where you want to go, and find the route you need.

It's not easy, it's not fun.  It's hard and emotional.  And yet, it's amazing.

You'll see in 100 days.  Contact me directly if you want in my coaching system, otherwise listen in today's episode because I literally share with you how to do it all by yourself.

Background

I did a video for a group of coaching clients regarding their businesses and how it's their job to stay relevant in the daily discussion in their marketplace.

This is actually good advice for everyone but across your life.   You need to actively work to stay relevant and an active voice in your children's lives, your spouses' life, your spiritual journey and even your body's health.

Across the board, corporations are selling, celebrities are talking, politicians are working, and money is talking to us nonstop.  Billions are spent to persuade you into drinking the right colored can or driving the right car.  And people are distracted and sedated.  YOU have to fight to be on their mind.

Date your wife.  Break her free from the kids, from her phone, etc.

Date your kids.  Break them from their ipads, their friends, and their comfort zones.  Those of you with teenagers already have the hardest job ahead of them.

Listen in todays' episode to hear more examples, but here are your actions steps.

I have my faults.  Every human does actually; but what defines us is what we can consistently do with our strengths.

I put this podcast as my lowest priority in the past few months because I was overwhelmed with a new baby, kids, preggo wife, post-partum wife, running a business, and training for a spartan race.

I'm sorry dear listener, but I fell victim to my own stories.

And then I realized that I don't have to be perfect to have this podcast or to offer help.  The whole point of these episodes is to share frustrations, to share our "war stories" and see that we are in fact not alone and we can unite against our common enemy (the negative voice inside or even our kids).

Listen and enjoy, and share this podcast (please).

We had a baby!  And so much more has happened!  We bought our first house, had a baby, and our son even had some strange unknown illness that plagued him for over a month and then just went away on it's own.  And then this baby just won't sleep very well!
