Here's your chance to jump on or GTFO.

While a main purpose of this time together is to have some fun and wash off some of the grime of having a family and just life in general. There is a greater purpose here.

MEDIOCRITY is killing us.

Wake up and be real. No more filters, no "perfect life" on facebook, no competing among the other parents for the best snacks, but we need to be reminded that it's perfectly great to be authentically you. Refilling your cup and therefore passing that power of authenticity to our kids as well.

Because right now. Our kids are getting sicker and sicker - life expectancy is actually dropping and childhood cancer is getting more and more prevalent. We are more obese than ever before, more in debt, and more in depressed.

Whether you coach with me or someone else, or you listen here and run with it yourself - we are talking about getting REAL results. I want you to look back a year from now and really be amazed with yourself.

I want you to feel compelled to share this message by sharing my podcast, my coaching, or better yet, take this message and be empowered to start your own movement. That's how we save this world and save our kids.

Yes, I'm going to sell to you later. I'm going to give you chances to level up with me, but for now:

JUST OPEN YOURSELF UP TO WHAT LIFE COULD BECOME IF YOU REALLY WENT ALL IN WITH YOURSELF.

In my last episode, I opened that I came to the realization that this podcast sucks! So, let's talk about why I actually think that, and it's about my content I share.

What is the whole point of this podcast? Or listening to a podcast in general, especially a daily one?

Here are my theories for why we invest time on anything actually:

  1. Results

There is is, so here is how I'm going to actually deliver now:

  • I need to drop this need for you to like me.
  • I need to polarize you. To either drive you towards action or drive you away.
    • Think like a magnet, only the ends attract or repel.
  • I'm going to invoke emotion with you. You are not always to going to like it. I am done with being light on truth and impact, I want to provoke you. That's how we grow!

Pattern interrupters. We use this to make change in our lives. Now normally, we wait until something drastic happens TO US (heart attack, finances, bankruptcy, divorce, spiritual warfare). Well, instead of waiting, let's search it out.

An easy example of how we do this is by working out and making sure we mix things up to keep our muscles confused and therefore in growth!

So we can use this in religion and politics. You need to search out chaos and growth by getting uncomfortable. Study opposing views. And be open to changing your viewpoint when you get evidence. Be in a state of growth and expansion. We don't by staying comfortable.

Backstory

I have listening to my podcast to really try and improve. And this is important to do. In fact, just like sports teams and athletes will watch game tapes, it's important that we do the same. It's the fastest way to improve your performance and therefore; results.

It allows us to study ourselves without the emotion attached.

So, I listen and I wanted to puke. But it's easy to tear yourself apart. It really is.

Changes are being made; so let's talk about HOW I did this.

I have been tracking my performance in more and more areas of my life. It started with my health and now I'm starting to track in almost every area of my life. By tracking, we start to look at facts and bring more mindset and intention to these areas.

As a chiropractor - videotaping my exam, my consult, my adjustment, and also practicing with my staff about answer questions and educating my clients.

As a parent - talking with my wife after our kids have a tantrum and discussing how we handled things.

As a spouse - this was the hardest for me, but really asking for help with expressing feelings, talking about needs and sex, and also just making sure we keep communication open.

Working out - i videotape my planks and burpees to check form. Watching yourself in a mirror as you lift to check form. Tracking weight and reps and making sure to keep track of growth.

Eating - tracking all meals, every single thing that is put in your mouth.

Finances - all receipts, even cash, etc.

By tracking and reviewing, I am more mindful of spending and eating and more. And my actions are becoming more and more effective because I'm making less and less mistake.s

So, where are you going to start using "game tapes" or tracking?

I was on another podcast show!!!

Check it out

Dec 12, 2018

Crazy how if you really examine the good and bad events in your life, there is always some higher lesson.

This happens to you to.  In fact, there is a process to learn how to examine a previous event and figure out why it triggered an emotion and actually find a life lesson from that experience.

Interested?   Hit me up and private message me to learn more.

Other source?  Byron Katie's "Loving What Is" also goes through this process.

But first, back to today's episode.

My wife was headed out of town with two of our kids.  With a baby, any trip is not exactly easy, so I was trying my best to handle any and all issues.  Checked tires, filled the tank, emptied the trash out (mostly).  But when it came time for her to actually leave?  DEAD BATTERY.

Grrrrrr....

There's a lesson in this too, listen in to find out!

Backstory

I had a work weekend where I shut myself into my office and I "beast mode" until I'm (1) all caught up, (2) finish my old projects, and (3) plan and strategize.

This approach honestly sucks.  It's NOT a path to success.  It's stressful having projects hanging over my head.  it's stressful having my bookkeeping wait until I have to do it.   It's not easy on me or my family.

I am reminded of doing a bootcamp of sorts for married business men.  It's amazing but one of the principles they taught us was that it is far easier to keep up with the group than to stop and then play catch up.

We would hike/march up a side of a mountain.  There were scheduled stops.  But if you lagged behind the group, your break would be super short and overall, you'd have less rest.

So, dear listener, I pose to you the question.  Where in your life have you been doing this stop and go approach instead of handling things little by little each day?

Most of my clients have done this with their health.  They use and abuse their body until the HAVE to do something about it.  and then it's expensive, painful, and lots of hard work to regain their health and strength.

Credit card debt, finances, marriages all follow this suit.  Why do we wait until the last moment to do the work?

Listen in to find out what you can easily do to fix this...

Backstory

My oldest daughter has a system.  A lifehack about finding out if it's the REAL Santa or a FAKE Santa.  Because most of the Santas we see out in public are indeed fake and not the real Santa Claus.  This is important to her.

So allow me to share just a few details of said life hack.

  1.  The beard must be real.  Most are too white and obviously not attached or even real hair.  I mean, c'mon guys.
  2. The belly must also be real.  We can tell if it's just stuffing and we can see it in your face.  Fat and jolly, no substitute.
  3. Nevermind that you know my name, but can you tell me the name of my house elf.

Ummmm what?  How did she even come up with that!?!

The point is, we ALL have tests and standards we use in our every day interactions - to test our safety, our interest, basically some call is a BS detector, women's intuition, gut feelings.

NO matter what it's called, you must honor this feeling.  Honor your barometer that you have enabled to help you out.

Ever regret NOT using this?  YOu're not alone, but it's perhaps time to strengthen this bond between you and your inner intuition!

In this episode I go into details about how to do so - I hope you join us!

Backstory

Like I touched on last week, I wanted to expand upon this principle of no longer waiting for "some day" or for some moment in the future to happen.

Short recap:  I was pushing my family and in my business and pushing for some imaginary finish line and saying, once I get there... then I will (relax, have fun, travel, seminars, etc.)

So here it is now, I want to stress that this needs to happen right now.  Your family, your clients, your spouse are all waiting for you to show up and start living RIGHT NOW.   It's not too late, your life is happening right now.

So what does that even look like?   I means making a list of your PASSIONS and your GOALS.   Now, mix those into your every day life.  If you have a passion, then it is up to you to share it each and every day.  Don't wait for some day.  It might never happen.

Listen in to see what I mean...

The Setup

I had a revelation during an exercise where I reflect and review on a emotionally triggering event from the day before.  I was digesting some frustrations at my son who is just getting so damn mad at me when I ask him to do normal easy things - like get dressed, or put shoes on, or get a coat on, or to put his clothing away.   And after looking at this situation from multiple angles, I came to the realization that overall in many areas and situations of my life.  I'm pressing so hard to get to a point.  This point, what it is, I have no freaking clue.

It's like I'm pushing to some imaginary finish line that I already know doesn't exist.  And I've been doing this in business, in coaching, in parenting, and personally in myself.  And I'm done with that.

I am instead going to look for the beauty and look to my business and family, in the day to day stuff, my heaven on earth.   As they are my reward already.

I am going to quit pressing for this unknown thing I've been chasing.  Instead I'm chasing the moment.

And as I look at my passions and gifts; it's time to use them NOW.  Not someday, or after the kids go to bed, but in each and every day.

This is an emotional episode - make sure to listen in.

No homework today, just reflect on what I'm saying.

That is all,

Coach Nick

The Setup

There are certain things in life that just work across the board.  When it comes to business, some of these principles would actually really help out your personal life.

  • Strategy towards a goal.
  • Teamwork
  • Clarity on those goals
  • Bonuses
  • Communication

Communication is key all around and that's why I promote a daily morning huddle both in business and at home, but also a weekly marriage meeting.  For my kids I employ a quick meeting check-in during their one on one date with me.

I've taught on this weekly meeting before on this podcast, but it still is applicable more than ever.  We're addicted to busy as a society and to take a moment to get things straight is key.

This is a goal that a client stated today.  I freaking loved it.  But I also told her out of her list of goals, this would be the hardest!

At first, she told me she wanted to lose 50 pounts.  I couldn't accept that.  In fact, I told her that no one actually wants to "lose anything" - the brain just hates that.  So instead, we needed to change our focus TOWARDS something.

God Bless my wife, she said this to me while we were doing demolition on our basement.  What I wanted to say to this and what I did say to this was totally different.  Because really... I was confused about why she would even say this to me.

So this past weekend, we decided to rip out a kitchenette in our basement to make way for a family room.  During this time, she thought I was angry and having a terrible time.  She thought this because I was tearing things out and throwing scraps in a pile.  For me, I thought this was perfectly normal and I was having a great time.  For her, she thought I was mad and throwing a tantrum.

Again, if we had only taken a moment to create clarity then we would have not operated out of a place of conflict and hurt feelings.

She was hurt because she thought I didn't want to do this project.  I was upset because I apparently wasn't doing this project "right".  I was irritated because she was trying to make me to a project differently that what I had envisioned.  The problem is that we took way too long to just stop what we were doing and explain the process and expectation.

Imagine what could be possible is we just took a moment to explain our expectation and process to our kids when we ask them for help or to do something.  How about our team or spouse, or even ourselves.

It's not enough to declare a goal to ourselves without truly having clarity about it.

On our coaching page a question was posed about how to know the difference between just being tired and needing rest, versus being tired and pushing through.

Damn good question!

I can honestly tell you that I'm tired when I first wake up and after the kids are in bed.  But so is everyone else!  Obviously!  So, at those times, I literally say out loud, "Fuck that story" and I get up and move.

Midday is a warning sign for me.  So, I do a shift move (more of that in podcast) and meditate.  Then I honestly listen to my body and what it's telling me.

Depending on if I'm just tired, exhausted, or burned out then determines how I recover.

If I'm burned out, this does require a real check in my priorities.  Because I love what I do, I don't get burned out unless I'm not staying on task with it.  I love doing this podcast, I love adjusting, but I do get burned out when doing bookkeeping, or reports.

I talk more about this in my show so I hope you tune in because there are a lot of great points to avoiding burnout and how to recover fully.

I was on my way to swim and my mom nearly derailed me.  All my stories about my fears in swimming were reinforced in a matter of seconds.

- She told me not to swim in the deep end.

- My body is not designed for swimming.

- I was going to drown.

Here's what I did.

Backstory

I am a self-proclaimed former acceptance addict.  As a healer and health professional, it's literally my job to help make people feel good again and I loved the attention and acceptance I gained from that.  I would love the testimonials and the gratitude shown towards me for "miracles" performed after they tried everything else.

The harder the case, the more I loved it.  And I would be myself up mercilessly on those that didn't get the results I had hoped for.

This extended to my spouse and family for the longest time.  I was only happy and "successful" when everyone was having fun and happy.  When times were stressed with crying, fighting, or being pouty and ungrateful, then I too felt like I was a dismal failure.

Then, finally it occurred to me that this was a recipe for having a pretty miserable life!  How on earth was I supposed to keep all these people happy just for me to feel happy!  It was pure lunacy!

Nuff said, listen in.

Sep 26, 2018

I am terrible at swimming.  It's a great workout because I spend all my energy and air trying not to drown.

What a recipe for continued failure!  (I'll come back to this in a moment)

But I am determined, that just like running long distances that I too can tackle the water.  It may never look pretty but perhaps I can practice enough to not be such a liability in the water.

To give you a background story.  I am unable to float.  I quit swimming lessons in the fifth grade because I was taking swim lessons with the kindergartners.  They could pass by floating on their backs, I would slowly sink to the bottom, with my lungs filled to the brim with air.

So now in my 30s, I'm determined to beat this.  So to the pool I go, twice a week to swim 250-300 meters each time.

And today finally I had the revelation.

  1.  I'm not going to drown.  So stop swimming to not drown.  Swim for fun.  Relax and be in the moment.
  2. I'm not going to drown. (I had to repeat this over and over in my head actually)

It worked!  I was able for the first time ever, swim without a break from one end to the other!  I didn't have to stop and catch my breath.  I didn't have to stop because I inhaled water!

By slowing down, I was able to speed up.  By realizing I wasn't going to drown, I was able to focus on the joy in the moment.

Imagine how I'm going to apply this to business?  My marriage?  My spirituality?
